Holiday Cottage

The Hayloft is a spacious and bright flat recently converted from part of a traditional farm courtyard. The space provides generous and comfortable accommodation for two in twin or double beds. A sofa bed is also available by arrangement.

There is a large combined living and, well equipped, kitchen area and bathroom with shower. The property features local hardwood flooring and stairs with a number of other individual features. The flat has attractive views over the farm and surrounding countryside. The property is centrally heated from the farms biofuel boiler. There is ample parking (tarmac yard) at the door of the property.

Guests staying at the farm are able to buy Wark Farm products during their stay, should they wish to do so, including eggs and a range of fresh and cured meats as well as seasonal vegetables from the farmhouse garden.

The Area

The countryside around the Hayloft rises from mixed farmland and woodland up to the heather hills, all lying between the valleys of the rivers Dee and Don. It is a quiet rural area giving easy access to many opportunities for enjoyment of the beautiful countryside. Within easy reach are nature reserves, walks ranging from waymarked forest ways to more challenging wild country, some of the best fishing in Scotland, two ski resorts (The Lecht & Glenshee) and, after all that, a range of good places to eat good quality food from the area and relax.

The farm itself offers easy walks and we are happy to share information about the farm and the animals as well as the conservation work we undertake to encourage wildlife through the creation of wetlands, planting hedges, digging ponds and the sensitive management of grassland and crops.

Things to do

Aberdeenshire is a beautiful and varied county, taking in everything from sea cliffs and sandy beaches to Munro's (hills higher than 3,000ft) giving visitors a wide range of opportunities and experiences. Famed for its food and drink (it's whiskey and beef in particular) and it's many castles (plenty of which can be visited) it also offers a wide range of outdoor activities from the formal such as golf and watersports to many opportunities for quieter explorations of the countryside through walking or cycling and looking out for the rich and varied wildlife of the region. There is a large selection of brochures, local information and maps in the property to look through.

The Visit Royal Deeside website has a comprehensive list of local places of interest and current events. Other sites worth looking at for local interest are The National Trust for Scotland and Visit Scotland.
